Milan Design Week 2017
Life in Italy is good, especially during the Milan Design Week. Something I look forward to every year. It’s the mix that makes it unique: the Italian urban lifestyle combined with interior design, art, delicious food and the Spring sun.
Every city area has its own character and atmosphere. I prefer the industrial and historical areas to discover upcoming designers and their perception on the future of interior design. But also well-known brands. Like the Diesel Living pop up apartment. I definitely could live there! Besides strolling the beautiful streets of Milan. I also visited the Salone del Mobile this year. My first visit to the fair in the four years and totally impressed by the big amount of presentations.

Luckily I got invited by the Italian DDN magazine to join a blog tour. A group of European bloggers with their camera at hand. Ready for a walk and talk along exclusive Italian interior brands. Like JPC, Arflex, Poliform, Natuzzi, MDF and Artemide.
Together with my partners in crime :) Desiree from Vosgesparis and Iris from C-More I joined the Leff Amsterdam breakfast in the company of Piet Hein Eek. Located at the beautiful Rosana Orlandi residence. We also had a drink at Piet Boon, surrounded by his luxury round shaped furniture and accessories.
Both on the fair and in the city, I have not spotted something really new and exciting. I must admit.. Yet I got inspired by the use of sculptural shapes and new material combinations. I saw a lot of beautiful ceramics and glass objects I loved. The use of contrasts and both visual plus tactile experience play a major role.
